We went to waterfalls, the elephant wash was not nice they are tied up. The water fall was nice but very busy and would advise going in a taxi by ur self really early. The snorkelling boat trip was a really nice day, the boat is small and u can’t sunbathe. The beach was nice and the food there great. Saw lots of dolphins really close to the boat. The snorkelling visibility was not great but we had a good time. We also did the Flea Market trip, That was really good. I love to shop and the haggling was fun. Just the girls went from our group and it was a fun start to the day.
I love discover the world !
The Anjuna “flea market” traces its origin to the Hippie Revolution of the 60’s. Young Westerners just threw off Victorian customs and dress and landed in Anjuna-Calangute Belt with their haversacks. Hippies who were running out of money would sell off their personal effects…….everything ranging from “foreign” guitars, electronic equipment to jewelry and jeans to anyone interested. Thus began the infamous ‘flea’ market at Anjuna.
Today this beach side market still attracts tourists, but the sellers are mostly from Kashmir, Tibet, Gujarat, Rajasthan, or Karnataka selling handicrafts, brass ware, semi-precious stones, clothes, fancy knives, hammocks, and bedspreads. A few Goan stalls sell music CD’s, foodstuffs. A number of foreigners are also among the sellers vending Italian Pizzas, German pastries or Israeli or Russian cuisine. A few may also vend their belongings. Attire for the beach market is essentially beachwear & skimpy.
This weekly tourists market is also known by other names such as, “Wednesday Weekly Market”, “Flea Market” or as “Anjuna Flea Market”. Not to be missed market especially if you are shopping for souvenirs & handicrafts from all over India. The Anjuna Flea Market is one of the most unusual, gigantically huge and most colorful markets of Goa. Even if you are not in shopping, the Anjuna flea market is the place to be on Wednesday’s in Goa.
To avoid the roadside traffic jams, John takes you to Anjuna Flea market by boat. The boat ride begins from Baga beach and circles the Cape of Anjuna hillock to reach you straight to anjuna beach where the market is located. Chilled beers are provided on the boat.
